Report: Trevor Knight out for the season, could return for bowl game

Trevor Knight

Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight injured his shoulder last weekend in the team’s devastating loss to Mississippi State. Literally adding insult to injury, the talented quarterback is now going to miss the rest of the season, though he could reportedly come back for a bowl game.

This is just a really tough break for the Aggies. The Oklahoma transfer has been phenomenal all year for this program, totaling 2,494 yards and 23 touchdowns. Until last weekend, Texas A&M was in legitimate playoff contention, thanks in large part to his role within the offense.

Now that Knight has been sidelined the remainder of the regular season, the Aggies must turn to junior Jake Hubenak to run the offense the rest of the way. Hubenak has played a bit this year, totaling 350 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

The Aggies carry a 7-2 record into Week 11 and will be facing Ole Miss this weekend. Without their offensive leader, the Aggies might just be in trouble unless star pass rusher Myles Garrett can inspire his defense.

That said, the Rebels will also be without their quarterback, as Chad Kelly underwent season-ending knee surgery.

It’s going to be interesting watching these two teams play without their starting quarterbacks on Saturday at Kyle Field.
