Bills WR Sammy Watkins cleared to practice Wednesday

Sammy Watkins

As the Buffalo Bills continue their playoff push in the AFC, they might be getting a familiar face back in the mix here soon. Bills general manager Doug Whaley indicated on WGR 550 in Buffalo that wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been cleared to practice Wednesday (h/t ESPN.com).

Watkins was placed on injured reserve back in late September with a foot injury and has missed the past eight games. This came on the heels of him undergoing off-season surgery on said foot. In two games this season, the former first-round pick has been held to six receptions for 63 yards.

The star reciver is now eligible to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it remains to be seen if he will be activated by then.

Considering Robert Woods is doubtful with a knee injury and LeSean McCoy is questionable after undergoing surgery on his thumb this past Sunday, the Bills could use some good news. Though, the team might take it slow with Watkins given that it’s taking on a last-place Jacksonville Jaguars squad.

At 5-5 on the season, Buffalo’s playoff hopes are hinging on a win this week. It is currently two games out of a playoff spot in the AFC.
