Report: Robert Griffin III won’t need shoulder surgery

The Cleveland Browns entered the 2016 season with high hopes generated by new head coach Hue Jackson and the signing of talented but oft-injured quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Fast forward six weeks and RGIII is in the middle of rehab after suffering a fractured coracoid bone in his left (non-throwing) shoulder that landed him on injured reserve with a designation to return, an injury which some team officials feared would require surgery.

Good news for Cleveland fans now, as a checkup revealed healing in the bone. This means Griffin III won’t need surgery.

With the rash of injuries the Browns have suffered at the quarterback position, forcing the team to resort to starting USC rookie draftee Cody Kessler, any positive news is cause for celebration by the winless franchise.

With the potential return of their captain and starting quarterback, one can expect the Browns to make a few moves and shock some opponents as the season wears on.
