LeSean McCoy listed as ‘questionable’ after injuring hand in practice

LeSean McCoy

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy injured his hand in practice on Friday and has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

ESPN’s Mike Rodak passed this information along Friday. He noted head coach Rex Ryan would not give reporters any other information about the injury or the status of his running back for the upcoming game: “Asked if he’ll play Sunday, Rex Ryan smiled and said, ‘questionable.'”

Though, McCoy did tell reporters he wouldn’t miss the game “for the world,” calling it a minor injury.

If McCoy is unable to play, however, then it’s safe to say Buffalo’s offense will suffer.

He has been the focal point of the team’s offense since Anthony Lynn was promoted to offensive coordinator in place of Greg Roman, who was recently fired.

In the two games since that move was made, McCoy has totaled 224 yards and three touchdowns.

Should McCoy’s hand injury keep him out of the game Sunday in Los Angeles, then we assume third-year back Mike Gillislee would get the start in his place.

The Bills are also reportedly toying with the idea of bringing back Karlos Williams after cutting him during training camp. However, they canceled a planned workout with the running back yesterday.

The big concern for McCoy if he does play Sunday is whether or not his hand injury will have an impact on how he can hold onto the ball. The Rams feature an opportunistic defense and a front four that can be downright dominant.

That said, if there is any chance for him to play, he’ll play regardless. McCoy is the most dangerous weapon on Buffalo’s offense right now, especially in light of Sammy Watkins being put on injured reserve.
