The Dallas Cowboys made a strong gesture of support to the Dallas Police Department before their first training camp practice of the 2016 NFL season.
Kicking off training camp with an opening ceremony Saturday in Oxnard, Calif., owner Jerry Jones and the Cowboys entered the field arm in arm with Dallas Police Chief David Brown and other Dallas Police Department officers and families.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings was also included in the ceremony.

After walking onto the practice field in a solemn manner, the team rallied around Brown.

This show of support was in response to the recent police killings in Dallas, when a sniper opened fire on officers, killing five of them.
