Mike Evans: Johnny Manziel gave great speech at wedding

Johnny Manziel

Ever since the alleged domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend that took place Jan. 30, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been laying low.

This was until last weekend when Manziel was a groomsman for Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans’ wedding. Manziel and Evans were teammates at Texas A&M from 2012-2013.

When reporters from TMZ Sports caught up with Evans to inquire about Manziel’s presence and if he gave him a toast, Evans said Manziel gave “one of the best speeches.”

The reporter also asked questions about whether Manziel was dancing and hinted about “liquor flowing,” but Evans only responded for himself. Evans did share a little about Manziel, according to the report.

“I got his back. That’s all you need to know. None of my business.”

“He seemed good … I was just happy he was there.”

When asked about Manziel’s future in the NFL, Evans said he hopes Johnny gets another shot and that he’s “an amazing talent.”

The two have remained quite close since being drafted into the NFL in 2014, and Evans certainly had Manziel’s back when he carefully refused to divulge any specific information to the level that Manziel may or may not have partied post-wedding.

After a drama-filled year involving multiple alleged incidents of domestic violence and public intoxication, Manziel’s days as a member of the Cleveland Browns are numbered.
