It’s usually one of the NFL teams in California that has the pleasure of traveling the most during a given season. According to CBS Sports, that distinction will go to the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.
The 49ers will travel nearly 28,000 miles during the season. They are also going to have four different road trips of at least 2,000 miles. The Miami Dolphins come in second at 26,452 miles, while the Oakland Raiders round out the top three. Miami’s travels include a trip to London.
The Philadelphia Eagles will be traveling the shortest distance at 6,818 miles, while the Washington Redskins come in second at just over 7,000 miles.
If you were wondering where the two Super Bowl teams from a season ago might be, the Seattle Seahawks will be traveling over 25,000 miles (fourth most). Meanwhile, the defending champion New England Patriots are right in the middle of the pack.
Overall, five of the top six teams in terms of travel mileage play in either the AFC West or NFC West. Three of those five teams take up residence in California.
