Patrick Peterson Discloses Diabetes Diagnosis

In proof that this condition can impact seemingly the healthiest people in the world, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson disclosed recently that he suffers from Diabetes.

The diagnosis wasn’t made until team doctors ran tests on Peterson during the 2014 season. The Pro Bowl defensive back also indicated that the situation impacted his overall play last year.

Peterson, 24, struggled to an extent this past year. He followed up an All-Pro performance in 2013 by grading out as the 69th-best cornerback in the NFL, according to official Pro Football Focus metrics.

It’s quite possible that Peterson’s decline in play was a direct result of his health off the field. Among other things, Diabetes can cause drowsiness and lethargy.

Now that it is being treated, Peterson is looking to move on from the diagnosis.

No question it made a big difference and once they found out what the problem was, they put their hands around the throat, wrangled it and we moved forward from it,” Peterson said.

We wish Peterson the best moving forward.
