Ravens Expected to Sign Matt Schaub

The Baltimore Ravens have apparently found a backup quarterback to replace Tyrod Taylor. According to the Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson, the team is close to signing veteran signal caller Matt Schaub.

It remains to be seen exactly what type of deal Schaub received, Wilson is reporting that its for at least two years.

Years removed from being a viable starter in the NFL, the 33-year-old Schaub saw his career take a nosedive with the Houston Texans in 2013 before backing up Derek Carr in Oakland this past season.

Schaub’s best season came back in 2009 when he recorded 4,770 yards with 29 touchdowns and 15 interceptions en-route to the first of two Pro Bowl appearances.

Like most teams around the NFL, Baltimore will be in trouble should its starter go down. At the very least, it now has some solid experienece behind Joe Flacco on the depth chart.
