Stephen Curry Hangs with President Obama

You know an athlete is big time when he/she gets to hang with the President of the United States. Following his ridiculous 32-point, eight-assist performance against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry spent part of his Wednesday hanging out with President Obama.

Curry’s trek to the White House was in large part due to his work on Obama’s Malaria Initiative, which is aimed at helping Africa overcome this dreaded disease. The MVP candidate has worked closely with this initiative, including a trip to Tanzania in 2013. Over the past three years, Curry has also donated three insecticide-treated mosquito nets for every three pointer he has made. These nets are a lifeline for those less fortunate in Africa.

As it relates to Curry’s visit with Obama, the two spoke about the Warriors success this season, his teammates and head coach Steve Kerr.

Oh. And Curry hung out with President Obama’s dogs.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Obama and Curry engaged in a friendly pick-up game. The president is known for taking on some of the best the NBA has to offer. He has previously met with the likes of LeBron James and Tim Duncan, among others.

As it relates to Curry, his off-court work within the larger community should be applauded. It’s nice to see that one of the faces of the Association hasn’t let his success go to his head.
