Jerry Rice Believes Patriots Cheated, Wants Asterisk if They Win the Super Bowl

Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice is the latest former NFL player to come out and question whether a potential New England Patriots victory in Super Bowl XLIX would be legitimate.

“I think you have to really put an asterisk on it (a Super Bowl win), because this is going to follow them, you know, for the rest of their lives, because when you look at it, when people go back and they think about the New England Patriots, they’re going to think about these controversies.” Rice told a local Bay Area radio station. “So it’s unfortunate. I’ve always wanted to do things the right way. I didn’t want to take any short cuts or anything like that. It’s just unfortunate that we’re talking about them using under-inflated footballs instead of talking about the Super Bowl.”

While it’s highly unlikely anything like that would happen, the NFL’s investigation has not yet wrapped up. We really have no idea what the findings will be, especially with “news” seemingly breaking on an hourly basis.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said earlier this week that he had not heard from league investigators regarding Deflate-gate and doesn’t expect to hear from the NFL until after the upcoming Super Bowl.

There is a lot of hot-air and hyperbole going on around league circles this week. Rice’s comments only add to that.
