Report: Lions Won’t Extend Ndamukong Suh Until After the Season

According to Tim Twentyman, the Detroit Lions have decided to ‘table” extension talks with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh until after the 2014 season. The two sides were unable to come to a common ground on a potential extension this offseason, which could lead to some drama next spring.

Suh is an enigmatic but talented figure on the Lions roster and wants to be the highest-paid interior defensive lineman in the entire NFL. The former first-round pick recorded 5.5 sacks in an All-Pro 2013 campaign. He’s among the most dominating defensive players in the league.

Twentyman reported that the Lions are still confident they can get something done next offseason, as team president Tom Lewand suggested.

If the two sides are unable to come to an agreement on a contract next spring, there is a good chance that Suh will be franchised.
