Buffalo Bills’ LB Kiko Alonso Injured in Workout

This could potentially be some horrible news for the Buffalo Bills as they prepare for training camp later this month. According to NFL Media’s Albert Breer, the Bills fear that star second-year linebacker Kiko Alonso suffered a serious knee injury in a workout on Tuesday.

The NFL.com scribe reported the following.

Bad news for Bills — Kiko Alonso was injured working out. Here’s a statement from GM Doug Whaley: “We have learned tonight that Kiko Alonso injured his knee while working out in Oregon. We do not have the details at this point, but early indications are that it may be significant.

Alonso, a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, recorded 159 tackles and four interceptions in a stellar rookie campaign. If the injury is indeed what the Bills fear it might be, this would be a huge blow to what looked to be a vastly improved defense in 2014. Alonso’s primary backup is Nigel Bradham at the weakside linebacker position.
