The hits keep coming for the Texas Rangers. Newly acquired first baseman Prince Fielder is expected to miss the remainder of the season and will have to undergo neck surgery.

Fielder, who was hitting just .247 with three homers this season, joins a whole host of Rangers’ players who will be sitting out the remainder of the 2014 season.

Fielder now joins Matt Harrison, Derek Holland, Martin Perez and Jurickson Profar on the 60-day disabled list.

For his part, the news wasn’t good for Profar today either.

Texas is currently 23-24 and sits 7.5 games behind the Oakland Athletics in the American League West.
