Washington Commanders leaked as new name of the Washington Football Team

Washington Commanders

Owner Daniel Snyder and Co. will make it official on Wednesday. But we already have a spoiler in Maryland. The Washington Commanders will be the new name of the NFL’s Washington Football Team.

Speculation has grown over the past several days that the organization had opted to change its name to the Commanders.

In hilarious fashion, a local helicopter pilot was the first to spoil Washington’s big news story. Brad Reita zoomed in on a video of Washington’s facility. Near the end, you’ll see Washington Commanders logos inside FedEx Field.

A day of NFL news that has consisted of Tom Brady officially retiring, a former head coach filing a lawsuit against the NFL and Jim Harbaugh reportedly returning to the league now includes this pretty big story from Maryland.

It was following the 2019 season that Washington changed its name from the Redskins after a ton of pressure. The team’s former name was seen as insensitive to the indigenous population of North America and the United States. Said name change came after years of push back within the native community.

For the past two seasons, the Washington Football Team had gone by a generic name as the organization looked to come up with something that made sense. That’s now officially official.

We’re intrigued to see how the uniforms will look moving forward for an organization that has been around the NFL since its inception as the Boston Braves back in 1932.

We also have some leaks when it comes to that.
