New York Jets star in full recruiting mode on social media, targets Mike Evans and Tee Higgins in latest posts

It seems that New York Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner has put on a different hat over the last few days and he has gone from elite defensive back to “freelance GM” for the team.

The Jets head into the offseason with a potential rich roster but still have a few holes to fill and a legendary quarterback who needs to return healthy from his torn Achilles. While the offensive line will be a priority in April’s draft and free agency, it seems that the team’s top player on defense is trying to his general manager skills on social media to get his pal Aaron Rodgers some more weapons on offense.

Before the four-time NFL MVP was traded to the Jets last year, Sauce Gardner openly flirted with the league legend and let it be known he hoped to see him in green and white in 2023. Well, a trade was eventually completed and it seems the two-time All-Pro believes he had a role in the deal getting done.

‘LeSauce’ new ‘freelance’ New York Jets GM

“I know a lot of y’all are skeptical about how LeSauce recruits. First, I start by getting an elite QB. Then, I got the WRs that I knew could win me a National 7-on-7 tournament. Then I get an O-Line to protect my elite QB so he can throw to them. Then I move on😂,” Gardner wrote on X, formerly Twitter this week.

That post actually followed a question he posed to New York Jets fans on the platform. “Who we want y’all?? Tee? Mike? Calvin? Davante? Jeudy? Or I can switch to WR. It’s really up to y’all lol.” Tee Higgins, Mike Evans, Calvin Ridley, Davante Adams, and Jerry Jeudy are all elite-level wide receivers that could be up for grabs in trades or free agency this offseason.

The “freelance GM” then sent a personal message to the Buccaneers great that had many Gang Green fans on the platform wondering. “You know what we talked about [Mike Evans] LeSauce(GM),” he wrote.

LeSauce is sure to have little effect on the organization’s roster moves this season, but it is pretty funny nonetheless as he jokes around with fans and shows his desire to have New York be a Super Bowl contender in 2024.
