Tim Tebow ‘proud of’ Kelly Bryant for transfer decision

Kelly Bryant and the Clemson Tigers dominated the ACC Championship Game on championship weekend

Shortly after Clemson named Trevor Lawrence the starting quarterback, Kelly Bryant decided to transfer. He still has a supporter in Tim Tebow.

While appearing on ESPN’s First Take, Tebow said he took issue with Bryant leaving practice but otherwise gave a passionate defense of the quarterback’s choice.

Tebow even called out Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman in the process, comparing Bryant’s transfer to a professional leaving one job for a better opportunity.

Tebow is absolutely correct in his statement. Only one quarterback can play at a time, and it’s clear the Tigers want to move forward with Lawrence at the helm.

And there’s nothing wrong with that, either.

Sure, Bryant could’ve stuck around, won another ACC championship and potentially appeared in the College Football Playoff again. However, he’d be doing all that as a backup, and the dual-threat quarterback wants a chance to play out his senior year.

As a result, Bryant protected his own future, utilized the new redshirt rule that allows four games of participation and will be a coveted graduate transfer.

Tebow noted Auburn as a quality match, and the SEC program should be one of several schools in hot pursuit of Bryant. And that’s all going to happen because of the courageous decision he made, betting on himself.
