The Chicago Cubs are finalizing a deal to re-sign left-hander Drew Smyly, ESPN reported Sunday.
The 33-year-old free agent was 7-8 with a 3.47 ERA in 22 starts in his first season with the Cubs in 2022.
Smyly is 53-47 with a 4.10 ERA and 922 strikeouts in 239 games (156 starts) over nine seasons with seven teams.
He was a second-round pick by the Detroit Tigers in 2010 and won a World Series with the Atlanta Braves in 2021.
