Respected coach could reportedly join Andy Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a dynasty following their thrilling win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII Sunday evening.

Kansas City has won three of the past four titles and became the first team in nearly two decades to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Earlier on Monday, the 65-year old Reid confirmed that he’ll return to the Chiefs next season after some rumors of retirement.

He might now have yet another ace up his sleeve. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, former Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could join Reid’s staff as an assistant next season.

New Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn opted against retaining Bieniemy on his staff after he served as their offensive coordinator under Ron Rivera in 2023.

Bieniemy, 54, is considered a respected offensive mind around the NFL. In fact, he was a head coach candidate in the previous few cycles leading up to 2023. Unfortunately, major struggles with Washington this past season led to Bieniemy being passed up for offensive coordinator jobs this cycle.

Bieniemy served as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator under Reid from 2018-22. That span saw him lead five consecutive top-six scoring offenses.

Obviously, having three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes leading that offense played a role in his success.

The idea of having Bieniemy return and team up with current Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy again would be a boon for the Chiefs as they attempt to three-peat as Super Bowl champions. That’s for sure.
