Legendary high school football coach Herman Boone, who coached at TC Williams High School and was portrayed in “Remember the Titans” has died at the age of 84.

Former TC Williams principal John Porter confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon.

As told in the movie, Boone became the coach at T.C. Williams in 1971, when the city of Alexandria, Virginia, consolidated its high schools and formed the integrated school.

The team overcame significant racial tension around the city and the team to finish the season with a 13-0 record and win the state championship.

The news comes just seven months after Bill Yost, who served as an assistant on the coaching staff and was also portrayed in the movie, passed away at the age of 94.
