Doyle Brunson, the 10-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion who was dubbed the “Godfather of poker,” has died at the age of 89.

Brunson’s family announced his passing Sunday night on Twitter through Brunson’s agent, Brian Balsbaugh.

“It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our father, Doyle Brunson. He was a beloved Christian man, husband, father and grandfather. We’ll have more to say over the coming days as we honor his legacy. Please keep Doyle and our family in your prayers. May he rest in peace.”

Brunson, who was also called the “Texas Dolly,” died in Las Vegas. No cause of death was given.

Brunson had more than $6 million in poker tournament earnings and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1988 at the age of 54.
