Bucs’ Devin White takes shot at Cam Newton

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Less than 24 hours after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted linebacker Devin White with the No. 5 overall pick, the rookie linebacker is already setting the tone with trash talk.

Shot Across the Bow: In an interview shortly after his arrival in Tampa Bay, the ex-LSU linebacker didn’t hold back when Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton’s name came up as a future opponent.

Tampa Bay brought White in to be a difference maker on the field and even add a little edge to this defense. His willingness to immediately call out an NFL MVP could be just the first of many to come during his NFL career.

One thing is for certain, Newton is now probably circling his calendar for the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Buccaneers. If Newton’s shoulder is healthy, he might take off out of the pocket and try and send White falling to the turf as his intro to the NFL.
