The Dallas Cowboys have added a reinforcement as the team prepares for the NFL Playoffs. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Dallas has signed offensive lineman La’el Collins to the practice squad.

Collins, 30, was in Dallas for a workout earlier on Tuesday. It seems as if the workout went well enough for Dallas to take a chance on the veteran offensive tackle.

Collins initially played with Dallas from 2015-2021, starting a combined 71 games in six seasons. He played the past two seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and had not been able to latch on with a team this season despite stellar previous play.

Depth is an issue for Dallas heading into its regular-season finale against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Starting left guard Tyler Smith is dealing with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. While he might suit up on Sunday, adding some experience on the offensive line had to be in the cards for Dallas.

By virtue of their controversial win over the Detroit Lions Saturday night and the Philadelphia Eagles’ ugly home loss to Arizona, the Cowboys can clinch the NFC East in Week 18. That would set up a home game during NFL Wild Card Weekend.
