Cowboys QB Dak Prescott speaks out against national anthem protests

The Dallas Cowboys are in the news for all the wrong reasons as they start training camp. Earlier in the week, owner Jerry Jones made news by indicating that his players will be on the field and won’t protest during the national anthem.

That was met with praise from President Donald Trump and criticism from this one star on a rival NFC East team.

Now comes this from third-year quarterback Dak Prescott. Not only is he supporting Jones, the signal caller is speaking out against anyone who protests during the anthem.

“I never protest. I never protest during the anthem and I don’t think that’s the time or the venue to do so,” Prescott said, via Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram.

Well, that’s sure to start a whole new round of debates around the NFL world. For his part, Prescott’s comments were in response to Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowler Malcolm Jenkins saying he would never play for the “bully” that Mr. Jones is.

Friction within the world of NFL players. It’s an unintended consequence of two-plus years of national anthem protests on the gridiron — protests that are not simply going to go away because of Jerry Jones or POTUS.

But for now, it appears that the leader of the Cowboys is in lock-step with both.
