A new report revealed a surprisingly anti-Lebron James approach the owner of the Chicago Bulls has toward any potential trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Throughout his iconic NBA career, there has been one specific player Lebron James has always been compared to, Michael Jordan. The hype surrounding James when he entered the league was unreal, and the belief was that he had the potential to be as impactful on the game as the Bulls legend.

As his memorable career has played out, his many losses in the NBA Finals have helped most make their choice on who is the better all-time player. For millions of basketball fans, Jordan never losing in a championship series is why they believe is the greatest player ever. Nevertheless, for others, James still has a case as one of the greatest to ever do it.

Well, it seems that Chicago Bulls owner, and former Jordan boss, Jerry Reinsdorf must feel that another Lebron James championship may boost the NBA GOAT debate further and he will have none of it. During a conversation with Los Angeles Lakers reporter Jovan Buha, Bleacher Report NBA insider Eric Pincus made a surprising claim about how Reinsdorf approaches the idea of trades with the current Lakes regime and roster.

“I think their owner doesn’t want LeBron infringing upon Michael’s legacy,” Pincus said. “… They’re not a big trading team. They’re a conservative team in how they operate but the intel is they’re just not going to help Lebron.”

Pincus threw out the surprising revelation when responding to some Lakers’ fan’s wishes that the team had traded for Alex Caruso or Andre Drummond before this year’s NBA trade deadline. He also suggested the idea of trading for Zach LaVine this summer would be a bad one since he believes the talented guard’s “knees are shot.”

Beyond trying to keep Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls legacy strong, the years where James’ teams beat Reinsdorf’s club in the playoffs during his career is sure to be a part of his petty viewpoint on helping the Lakers as well.
