Blake Griffin’s eight-season run with the Los Angeles Clippers has come to a close, and he’s thanking fans of the only team he’s ever known on the way out.

In a post on Twitter, Griffin acknowledged the support he received from the Clippers’ faithful during his tenure.

Griffin, who is headed to the Detroit Pistons as part of a blockbuster six-player trade, will likely remain beloved in Los Angeles. He didn’t request or demand to be moved from the Clippers, so most anger from fans will be directed at the front office.

The post also served as Griffin’s first statement following the trade, though he posted a priceless initial reaction to the news.

In 504 career games with Los Angeles, the No. 1 pick of the 2009 draft averaged 21.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He won the 2010-11 Rookie of the Year, earned five All-Star nods and appeared on an All-NBA team in four seasons.
