Steve Kerr pushes back against notion Klay Thompson is unhappy

Seven wins away from their third consecutive NBA title, the Golden State Warriors could see some vast changes this coming summer.

It starts with a relocation to San Francisco and Kevin Durant’s status as an impending free agent.

Lost in all of this is the fact that fellow All-Star Klay Thompson is also slated to become a free agent in July.

While Klay has said a number of times that he wants to retire as a member of the Warriors, a recent report suggests that he’s not happy with his role. In short, Thompson is tired of getting the scraps left behind from Stephen Curry and Durant.

In talking about said report on Wednesday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not mince words.

Thompson has not shown any outward hostility to playing third fiddle. In fact, he’s also denied the report.

At this point, it’s hard to imagine Thompson leaving Golden State in free agency. The team will offer him a max deal. In turn, Klay will accept said deal.

Regardless of what happens with Durant, don’t expect Thompson to change teams in July.
