Binghamton is giving interim basketball coach Levell Sanders a new deal to make him its permanent coach, ESPN and 247Sports reported Thursday.

ESPN reported that the deal adds five seasons after this one, through the 2026-27 campaign.

Sanders, who joined Binghamton in 2019 as an assistant coach, was named the interim coach on March 1 of last year after the program decided to part ways with Tommy Dempsey. He has technically been the interim coach throughout the present season, guiding the Bearcats to a 10-13 record (7-7 in the America East).

Sanders played guard at Seton Hall from 1994 through 1998. He had a lengthy professional playing career in Europe. He also briefly coached the Czech Republic under-18 team during 2017.
