The Milwaukee Brewers placed shortstop Willy Adames on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left quad strain.

Adames reportedly had been playing through some discomfort over the last few weeks. He aggravated the injury on a pick-off attempt Saturday in Milwaukee’s 4-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Adames, 26, has batted .294 with 17 homers and 51 RBIs in 88 games since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in May.

He is a career .263 hitter with 60 homers and 175 RBIs in 420 games with the Rays and Brewers.

Luis Urias will shuffle over from his third base position to play shortstop on Sunday as the Brewers (83-54) play the rubber match of their three-game series versus the Cardinals.

Infielder/outfielder Tim Lopes was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Lopes, 27, is 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in five games with the Brewers this season. He is batting .224 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs in 84 games with the Sounds in 2021.
