Florida landed former Marshall big man and the 2022-23 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Micah Handlogten on Monday.

Handlogten finished 11th nationally with 2.3 blocks and 16th with 9.8 rebounds per game in 32 starts for Marshall this past season. The 7-foot-1 Handlogten averaged 7.6 points and shot 66.2 percent from the field.

“Micah had a great freshman year at Marshall, and we believe he is just starting to scratch the surface in terms of his upside,” Gators coach Todd Golden said. “He’s a proven rim protector, rebounder, and rim finisher and we believe he has the capacity to expand his game – specifically on the offensive end.”

Handlogten had 14 double-digit rebounding games — including eight double-doubles — for the Thundering Herd.
