The Miami Marlins purchased the contract of left-hander Kent Emanuel in advance of Monday’s series opener against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.
Emmanuel, 31, had his only major league experience in 2021 when he went 1-0 with a 2.55 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Houston Astros.
To make room on the active roster, as well as the 40-man roster, the Marlins designated right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment. Gutierrez, 28, was added to Miami’s roster Sunday then gave up three runs in four relief innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
