Could Las Vegas Raiders replace Davante Adams in 2024 draft with Marvin Harrison Jr.? NFL insider makes case for bold move

One prominent insider believes the Las Vegas Raiders could kill two birds with one stone by moving Davante Adams’ massive contract and landing his replacement at the 2024 NFL Draft.

This is going to be a very interesting offseason for the Raiders because there is renewed hope about the potential of the team. Antonio Pierce showed the roster was better than some thought when he led them to a 5-4 finish, and the organization rewarded that performance with the full-time head coach job.

Las Vegas should at least be able to compete for a playoff spot next season but have the potential to be even better if they make the most of the $42 million in cap space they’ll have this offseason (via OverTheCap) and make the right choice with the 13th overall pick in April’s draft.

There are many different routes the team can go this spring, and one popular opinion is moving Davante Adams and the three years and over $76 million left on his contract to increase their flexibility. Speculation has often been that the New York Jets would be a likely landing spot. However, on Friday ESPN NFL insider Aaron Schatz pitched a very interesting draft-related idea for the Las Vegas Raiders.

“It might make sense for the Raiders to move on from Adams and his big contract now that he’s turning 32 this year,” Schatz wrote. “So how about trying to replace Adams with coveted wide receiver [Marvin] Harrison? A big trade up the draft board would help the Cardinals improve their receiving corps with Adams while also giving them the 13th overall pick to improve their league-worst defense from 2023.

“The Raiders would get perhaps the best-receiving prospect in years at a rookie contract salary.”

The idea is a sound one. The Cardinals have the money to take on Adams’ contract and won’t be taking a quarterback with the fourth overall pick since they already have Kyler Murray. The big question is if Arizona is just as high on the Ohio State star. They could instead just take him and hope he can turn into the next Davante Adams.
