Kevin Durant out vs. Thunder after injuring ankle in pregame workout

The Phoenix Suns have won three straight since Kevin Durant’s official arrival on the court as a member of the team. On Wednesday night, however, Phoenix got some terrible news after Durant slipped during the Suns’ pregame workout and suffered an ankle injury.

Of all the ways to get injured, this is a truly devastating way for a superstar like Durant to go down.

This is such a brief clip, it’s not entirely clear what caused Durant to roll his ankle, but a photo of the injury very much captures the gruesome scene. It’s safe to say Durant is dealing with a left ankle injury. The severity of it has yet to be determined.

What a shame. Durant was preparing for his first home game in Phoenix. The last person you probably want to be right now is the person who mopped that side of the floor. That’s if Durant even ‘slipped’ at all.

The Suns and Durant had been absolutely rolling of late and were coming off an incredible 130-126 win on Sunday against Kyrie Irving’s new team, the Dallas Mavericks. The win came largely due to KD’s performance in which he dropped 37 points on a ridiculously efficient 12-for-17 shooting.

It’s worth noting that even before Durant hit the court for Phoenix, the team seemed to finally be headed in the right direction, as the Suns have won seven of their last 10 games.

Phoenix currently sits as the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.

Now? Well, now we wait. All we know is that it’s a left ankle injury, and he will be out of Wednesday’s action against the Thunder.

Durant is no stranger to being hurt, but the obvious hope is he will miss minimal time, and he can get right back into that signature groove we all witnessed against Dallas.
