Rick Hummel covered the St. Louis Cardinals and Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for 50 years. Known throughout baseball by his nickname “The Commish,” he is a former president of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2007.
