Houston Texans bounce back with statement win

Houston’s 30-6 loss to the New York Jets last week was surprising for a number of reasons. First off, the Texans’ offense gained a mere 10 first downs and 135 yards. C.J. Stroud struggled under center, completing 10-of-23 passes for just 91 yards. Meanwhile, Houston’s defense enabled struggling Jets quarterback Zach Wilson to have a career day.

On the other side, the Tennessee Titans pulled off a sensational late-game comeback in a win over the Miami Dolphins. They were down by two touchdowns with 2:40 remaining in the fourth quarter before stunning the homestanding Dolphins.

We’re just not buying this trend continuing in Week 15. Houston had won seven of 10 heading into Week 14. Stroud was putting up historical numbers for a rookie quarterback. Meanwhile, the Titans found themselves at 4-8 and eyeing draft position more than anything. Look for Houston to rebound in this one, remaining very much alive in the AFC Playoff race with much more to play for than its AFC South rival.

New York Giants remain alive in the NFC Playoff race

Whether we call him Tommy DeVito or Tommy Cutlets, New York’s undrafted rookie free agent has his team on a roll. New York has won three consecutive and is just one game out of the final playoff spot in the NFC. It’s crazy to look at given that the Giants lost eight of 10 to open the season.

The young quarterback has accounted for 679 total yards with five touchdowns and zero interceptions during this winning streak. New York’s defense has also come up big, holding opponents to 16 points per game with 12 takeaways. That’s how you make up for a lack of overall talent.

We like the Giants’ Week 15 matchup against a New Orleans Saints (6-7) team that’s still in the NFC Playoff race, too. New Orleans has lost seven of 11 since a 2-0 start to the season. Last week’s victory over a one-win Carolina Panthers squad notwithstanding, the Saints have struggled. That included putting up just 207 total yards in the aforementioned win. We trust New York more in what could be an elimination game come Week 15.

Dallas Cowboys get statement win in Western New York

The whole narrative that Dallas can’t beat a winning team is now out the window as Dak Prescott and the ‘Boys took it to the Eagles last week by the score of 33-13. Prescott continues to play at an MVP level. He’s accounted for 15 passing touchdowns and just one interceptions during Dallas’ five-game winning streak. It’s not a coincidence that the Cowboys are averaging a whopping 40 points in this span.

All said, the Cowboys rank first in the NFL in scoring at 32.4 points per game. They are also yielding the fourth-fewest points in the NFL (17.9 PPG) while defeating their opponents by an average of more than two touchdowns.

Sure the Bills put up a big road win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week. But they are a mere 7-6 on the season and have lost four of seven. Josh Allen’s mistake-prone ways will come into play against a ball-hawking Dallas defense. Meanwhile, it’s hard to imagine the Bills’ defense slowing down Dak and what is one of the most-dynamic offenses we’ve seen in the NFL in some time. Pick Dallas to win outright here.
