NFL picks against the spread Week 7, including huge win for the Miami Dolphins

When looking at NFL picks against the spread for Week 7, there are several games in which the Vegas’ line is suggesting close affairs. That includes the New Orleans Saints finding themselves as mere one-point home favorites against the Jacksonville Jaguars to open things up Thursday night.

The New York Giants also find themselves as 2.5-point home underdogs against the division-rival Washington Commanders despite playing the Buffalo Bills close this past Sunday night.

In another edition of this article for the 2023 NFL season, we will focus on the four games (listed below) that offer up NFL picks against the spread worth your bet.

Jacksonville Jaguars earn fourth consecutive win (NFL picks lock)

Jacksonville has played all of three traditional home games this season. That will still be the case once they enter their Week 9 bye. Talk about being road warriors with Jacksonville in the midst of a three-game winning streak and boasting an AFC South-best 4-2 record.

In games away from Duval on the campaign, Jacksonville boasts a perfect 3-0 record. It is outscoring opponents 79-48 in those contests with the defense stepping up in a big way. Sure, the availability of Trevor Lawrence (questionable, knee) is a major backstory heading into Thursday Night Football. But we’re expecting him to be able to go.

As for the Saints, they head into Week 7 with a 3-3 record and having lost three of their past four. That included a defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans a week ago. New Orleans’ wins this season have come against teams (Titans, Panthers and Patriots) who boast a combined 3-15 record thus far. Jacksonville is clearly on a different level than those three.

New York Giants end losing streak against Washington Commanders

nfl picks against the spread: new york giants over washington commanders
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Whether it’s Daniel Jones (neck) or Tyrod Taylor under center for the Giants come Week 7, we’re expecting a big performance against their division rival. New York nearly defeated the Buffalo Bills in Western New York on Sunday Night Football last weekend. It played a great all-around game despite losing a fourth consecutive. That included the Giants’ defense holding Buffalo’s high-flying offense to less than 300 total yards while forcing two turnovers.

Fast forward to a rivalry game at home on Sunday, and the Giants should be somewhat confident in their ability to control the trenches on defense. Young Commanders quarterback Sam Howell has already been sacked a whopping 34 times in six games this season. In fact, he’s on pace to be the most-sacked quarterback in single-season NFL history. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Co. should absolutely eat in this one.

Washington has won one road game since Week 11 of last season. It struggled in a blowout loss to the one-win Chicago Bears back in Week 5 before taking out a mistake-filled Atlanta Falcons team last week. The Commanders’ three wins on the season have come against teams with a combined 5-13 record. Go ahead and do the math here.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers struggle on the road

The Jordan Love feel-good story earlier this season has given in to reality for the Packers recently. The former first-round pick tallied two touchdown passes and six interceptions in the three games heading into last week’s bye. That included a disaster class of a performance in a three-interception outing against the pedestrian Las Vegas Raiders back in Week 5.

We’re not necessarily confident in the Denver Broncos doing much moving forward on the season. But we do expect Sean Payton and Co. to maintain home-field advantage against the Pack come Sunday. Denver’s defense actually stepped up big time last week against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, yielding just 19 points in a game that was much closer than most thought it would be heading in.

Statement primetime win for Miami Dolphins

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are currently on pace to become the highest-scoring NFL team in single-season history with an average of 37.2 points per outing. Miami dropped 42 points in a blowout win over the Carolina Panthers last week despite falling down by the score of 21-0 early on.

Sure, Miami has its issues on defense heading into Sunday night’s affair with the Philadelphia Eagles. Opposing quarterbacks have thrown eight touchdowns compared to two interceptions against this unit.

Even then, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is coming off a career-worst three-interception outing in last week’s surprise loss to the New York Jets. He’s just not playing great football right now (seven touchdowns, seven interceptions on the season). Can Hurts play near flawless football in keeping up with the high-octane Dolphins? We’re not too sure on that front. Go with the road team to pull off a minor upset with your NFL picks against the spread this week.
