Our Week 10 NFL injury report is now live. There are numerous big-time players currently either sidelined or questionable to go for this coming week.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to make his long-awaited season debut after suffering a torn ACL last season.
At running back, Detroit Lions veteran David Montgomery will return from a two-game absence. Meanwhile, Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase provided an unfortunate injury update after last week.
Without further ado, here is our NFL injury report for Week 10. We will be providing daily updates on the statuses of these players moving forward.
NFL injury report Week 10: Quarterbacks
Player | Team | Injury | Backup | Status |
Jalen Hurts | Eagles | Knee | Marcus Mariota | BYE WEEK |
Matthew Stafford | Rams | Thumb | Carson Wentz | BYE WEEK |
Kyler Murray | Cardinals | ACL | Clayton Tune | STARTING |
Justin Fields | Bears | Thumb | Tyson Bagent | OUT |
Daniel Jones | Giants | ACL | Matt Barkley | OUT FOR SEASON |
Tyrod Taylor | Giants | Ribs | Matt Barkley | INJURED RESERVE |
Anthony Richardson | Colts | Shoulder | Gardner Minshew | OUT FOR SEASON |
Kirk Cousins | Vikings | Achilles | Joshua Dobbs | OUT FOR SEASON |
Aaron Rodgers | Jets | Achilles | Zach Wilson | INJURED RESERVE |
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Hurts has been dealing with injuries throughout pretty much all of the season. Most recently, he pulled up lame during last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with a knee issue. Hurts left for halftime early, but was able to return in the second half and finish out the game.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport indicates that Hurts is dealing with a bone bruise to the knee. It’s a painful injury, one that does tend to keep players out multiple weeks. But there is no real reason to believe that Hurts will miss Philadelphia’s first game after its Week 10 bye, a rematch against the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas CIty Chiefs. It’s still something to keep an eye on.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Murray will start this week against the Atlanta Falcons should everything go according to plan during practice. The former No. 1 pick has not suited up since suffering a torn ACL during a Week 14 game against the New England Patriots last season. This is pretty much the timeline for a return. That is to say, roughly a calendar year.
This couldn’t come at a better time for Arizona with rookie Clayton Tune leading the team to less than 60 total yards in a 27-0 loss to the Cleveland Browns last week. Even then, we’d temper expectations as it relates to Murray given his rust and the Cardinals’ lack of general skill-position talent. Stay tuned to our NFL injury report for a final determination on Murray’s status for Week 10 moving forward.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Update: Justin Fields has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Fields has missed the past three games due to a thumb injury on his throwing hand. The good news is that he was listed as limited in the Bears’ practice estimation as they open up preparation for Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers. It’s still not yet known whether the young quarterback will be able to go. Further updates will be provided during the week.
In Fields’ stead over the past three games, rookie undrafted free agent Tyson Bagent has recorded three touchdowns and six interceptions. Of the two, Fields is the only one who provides any type of fantasy football upside on a short week against Carolina.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants
After making a return to action last week following a three-game absence, Jones is out for the season due to a torn ACL. It’s a brutal injury for a recently-extended quarterback who had put up a disastrous campaign prior to going down (2 TD, 6 INT).
With Tyrod Taylor also on injured reserve, Tommy DeVito has seen action. He’s not even a short-term solution for the 2-7 Giants (1 TD, 2 INT this season). Instead, veteran Matt Barkley will likely be starting moving forward. He was just signed to New York’s practice squad. Yeah, the situation here is not good.

David Montgomery, Detroit Lions
Update: David Montgomery was a full participant for the Lions in Wednesday’s practice.
Montgomery was present in practice on Tuesday after missing the past two games due to a rib injury. With Detroit coming out of its bye and set to take on the Los Angeles Chargers this week, head coach Dan Campbell indicated that he’s prepared for Montgomery to play.
It creates somewhat of an interesting situation in Detroit’s backfield, with Jahmyr Gibbs (315 total yards) and Craig Reynolds (111 total yards) having played well in the two games Montgomery has missed. We’d still go with Gibbs as RB1 for the Lions. The rookie has been dynamite.
Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans
Update: Dameon Pierce did not practice with the Houston Texans on Wednesday.
Pierce missed last week’s game with an ankle injury, and was replaced in the lineup by free agent signing Devin Singletary (26 yards on 13 attempts). There have been no concreate updates on Pierce’s status heading into Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals. But he has not been good as a sophomore (327 yards, 3.0 average).
Regardless, it’s going to be all about rookie C.J. Stroud after his record-setting, 470-yard, five-touchdown performance last week. Expect Houston to continue going pass-heavy with Stroud dominating this season (2,270 yards, 14 TD, 1 INT).

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings
Jefferson’s practice window opened up this week after missing the past four games with a hamstring injury. While he’s a full-participant in practice, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters on Wednesday, that Jefferson will likely sit out this week’s game against the New Orleans Saints. That makes Jordan Addison yet another prime fantasy play in Jefferson’s stead before a likely Week 11 return for the star pass-catcher.
Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals
- Update: Ja’Marr Chase did not practice with the Bengals on Wednesday.
Chase provided a worrisome injury update after Cincinnati’s win over the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday night. He indicated that he took a hard fall on the turf in Cincinnati and the injury was felt more as the game went on.
We have no idea what Chase’s status is moving forward outside of the update he provided. We’ll learn more as NFL injury reports and practice information are released leading up to Sunday’s game against the Texans. Chase was on a roll prior to suffering the injury last week, having recorded 31 receptions for 372 yards and four touchdowns in the previous three games. Tee Higgins (8 catches, 110 yards) stepped up for Chase last week against Buffalo.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers
- Update: Deebo Samuel was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.
Coming off their bye week, Samuel was a participant in practice on Monday and should be good to go against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10. It’s important for a quarterback in Brock Purdy who struggled in the two games Samuel missed (2 touchdowns, 5 turnovers).
Samuel had been an up-and-down performer prior to going down with the injury. He’s caught 20 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown in six games. Expect Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey to be large parts of the 49ers’ passing game come Sunday.
Drake London, Atlanta Falcons
- Update: Drake London returned to practice on Wednesday. Head coach Arthur Smith says he’s trending in the right direction to play Week 10.
London missed last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a groin injury. It seems that this will end up being a mere one-week injury. Falcons head coach Arthur Smith indicates that he’s hopeful London will be able to go against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
The former first-round pick has caught 37 passes for 438 yards this season. In his stead last week, tight ends Jonnu Smith (5 receptions, 100 yards, 1 TD) and Kyle Pitts (4 receptions, 56 yards) stepped up with new QB1 Taylor Heinicke tossing them the rock.
NFL injury report Week 10: Tight ends
Player | Team | Injury | Backup | Status |
Dallas Goedert | Eagles | Arm | Jack Stoll | OUT |
T.J. Hockenson | Vikings | Ribs | Josh Oliver | PLAYING |
Cole Kmet | Bears | Knee | Robert Tonyan | QUESTIONABLE |
Dawson Knox | Bills | Wrist | Dalton Kincaid | INJURED RESERVE |
Darren Waller | Giants | Hamstring | Daniel Bellinger | QUESTIONABLE |
Pat Freiermuth | Steelers | Hamstring | Darnell Washington | INJURED RESERVE |
Greg Dulcich | Broncos | Leg | Adam Trautman | DOUBTFUL |
Zach Ertz | Cardinals | Quadriceps | Trey McBride | INJURED RESERVE |
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
Goedert suffered a fractured forearm in Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys and will miss multiple weeks of action. He could also land on injured reserve, costing the stud tight end at least four games of action.
Philadelphia doesn’t have another tight end on the roster capable of coming close to duplicating Goedert’s production (38 receptions, 410 yards). Jack Stoll is second among Eagles tight ends this season in receptions with two. Look for larger target shares for A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith once Philadelphia returns from its Week 10 bye.
T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
Update: T.J. Hockenson was limited in practice on Wednesday.
Minnesota is hopeful that Hockenson will be able to go in Week 10 as he deals with a rib injury. The star tight end has been banged up pretty much all season, but has been able to remain productive (60 receptions, 547 yards). With Joshua Dobbs slated to start again this week for Minnesota, stay tuned to our NFL injury report for further updates.
