New York Giants’ Daniel Jones feared to have torn ACL

Update: NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jones if feared to have a torn ACL. Tests on Monday will confirm the diagnosis.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones made his return to the field Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders after missing the past three games with a neck injury.

Unfortunately, Jones’ return did not last long. The high-paid signal caller exited in the first quarter after suffering a non-contact knee injury. The play in question did not look good. At all.

As you can see, Jones’ right knee buckled in the grass inside Allegiant Stadium. The fact that it was a non-contact injury doesn’t bode well for Jones’ status moving forward. He was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the game by the Giants.

It has been a miserable season for Jones. When on the field, he has not played great football. Add in these injury issues, and things just are not going well for the former first-round pick from Duke.

All of this comes after Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the New York Giants during the offseason.

With Jones sidelined and Tyrod Taylor out, Tommy DeVito took over under center for the Giants. The former undrafted free agent started the game completing 1-of-3 passes for 11 yards with two interceptions as New York fell down 24-0 at halftime against the Raiders.

As for the injury, we’ll have updates when they become available following Sunday’s game.
