Even without star quarterback Dak Prescott on the field for Sunday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, the Dallas Cowboys shockingly stole a road win.
Fortunately for the Boys and their star signal caller, it appears to be the only game he’ll miss due to a calf injury he suffered back in Week 6.
In talking to the media on Monday, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that Prescott will be a full go at practice later in the week. That puts him on track to suit up Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
With Prescott sidelined in Week 8, veteran backup Cooper Rush threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns en route to leading Dallas to a 20-16 win over the Vikings in Minneapolis.
Even then, the Cowboys need their franchise quarterback to be 100% healthy and ready to go if they want to be considered legitimate Super Bowl contenders following a 6-1 start to the 2021 season.
Over the course of his past 27 regular-season starts, Prescott has tallied 61 total touchdowns against 19 interceptions. In his six starts this season, Dallas looked unstoppable on offense — averaging 34.2 points per game.
