If not for a close Week 4 win over the Chicago Bears, the Broncos would be winless and the preeminent laughing stock in the league. Despite bringing in Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton this season, the team is arguably worse than they were in 2022 and has a 50-point loss on their resume for this season.

The Chiefs tried a little trickery early in the game with a little pitch action from one tight end to another. However, the fun play did not lead to a touchdown and the Chiefs had to settle for a field goal on the drive.

When the Broncos got the ball, they didn’t have it for long as Russell Wilson threw a pass that nearly seemed intended for Kansas City linebacker Nick Bolton. INT for the Chiefs and the ball back late in the first.

Despite moving the ball and getting down to the opposing 20, Mahomes threw a risky pass near the end zone that proved to be a bad decision and was intercepted by Justin Simmons. The man with the most INTs against Mahomes during his career.

With the game proving to be a defensive battle early, KC took a big risk deep in Denver territory midway through the second quarter and actually faked a field goal and tried to run for a first down on fourth and two. Unfortunately, they were not able to succeed and turned the ball over on down to the Broncos. Keeping the game at 3-0.

After the failure on fourth, the Chiefs were able to limit any damage and get the ball back. This time around, Mahomes and the O were able to get into a rhythm and put together a very nice drive — which included a great catch by Travis Kelce that drove girlfriend Taylor Swift wild. In typical KC fashion, they made the effort pay off and were able to get the ball in the endzone and push their lead to 10-0.

The two teams traded possessions after the touchdown. However, the Chiefs got the ball last and the offense was able to get the ball to a spot for Harrison Butker to attempt a long 60-yard field goal. Which he was successful on, pushing the Chiefs lead to 13-0 heading into the half.

To begin the second half Kansas City was able to move the ball down the field, including a big gain from Rashee Rice. However, they could not turn it into a touchdown and had to settle for another field goal. Pushing their lead to 16-0.

After getting the ball back, another Broncos drive ended miserably when after getting the ball into Chiefs territory, Wilson tossed another pass to a red jersey and kept his team scoreless after nearly three quarters.

After pounding away for three quarters with nothing to show for it. The Denver Broncos finally had a breakthrough midway through the fourth quarter, as the team was finally able to put a big drive together and get the ball into the endzone for the first time on the night. They converted on a two-point play after and got within striking distance at 16-8.

When the Chiefs got the ball back they were able to extend their lead with another field goal and push the score to 19-8. They then put things on ice for their fifth win of the season when they were able to force Samaje Perine to cough up the ball and recover the fumble.
