NFL insider offers huge update on if Terry McLaurin injury will affect Week 1 availability for Washington Commanders

An NFL insider offered up a major update Tuesday on if Terry McLaurin’s toe injury could sideline him for the Washington Commanders game in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

The Washington Commanders head into the new season with a lot of hope. The team had a solid showing in 2022 and came up a game short of reaching the NFL playoffs while playing in one of the toughest divisions in the league. Now, with their drama magnet owner gone and a new offensive coordinator in Eric Bieniemy, the goal is playoffs or bust this season.

A lot of the Commanders’ success will hinge on second-year quarterback Sam Howell, and the former fifth-round pick will need all the help he can get in his first season as an NFL starter. That is why the Monday night injury to Pro Bowler Terry McLaurin was a major reason for concern after their 29-28 preseason win against the Baltimore Ravens.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the 27-year-old was expected to undergo an MRI for the toe injury he suffered during a tackle last night. Well, NFL Media league insider Ian Rapoport was the first to reveal the outcome of the testing and if he will be ready for Week 1 versus the Arizona Cardinals.

“Sources say there is optimism for Week 1 for Terry McLaurin. More day-to-day than anything, with the scans showing no major injury,” Rapoport wrote in a post on Twitter/X.

The news is a big relief for Washington Commanders fans after the stud wide receiver delivered another sensational season despite an unstable situation at QB for the team in 2022.

Last season he delivered his third straight year of over 1,000 yards receiving as he reeled in 77 catches in five touchdowns receiving passes from Carson Wentz, Taylor Heinicke, and Howell last season.
