  • Quarterback: Purdy started 16 of the 49ers’ 17 regular-season games, sitting out the meaningless Week 18 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The No. 3 overall pick of the New York Jets back in 2018, Darnold attempted just 46 passes during the regular season. He threw two touchdowns compared to one interception. Expect Brandon Allen to be inactive for Super Bowl LVIII.

Brock Purdy stats (2023): 69% completion, 4,280 yards, 31 TD, 11 INT

  • Running back: McCaffrey led the NFL in rushing yards (1,459), total yards (2,023) and TD (21) during the regular season. He was an NFL MVP finalist. In his third season with the 49ers, Mitchell went for just 295 total yards. He missed six games to injury. Mason averaged a solid 5.2 yards with three touchdowns in a part-time role. All three will be active.
  • Fullback: Juszczyk earned his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl nod in 2023. He also tallied 125 total yards at a clip of 6.6 yards per touch. He’ll be the 49ers’ only active fullback in Super Bowl LVIII.
  • Tight end: Kittle caught 65 passes for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns en route to earning both Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2023. Woerner has only three catches as a block-first tight end. Meanwhile, Willis will be inactive for the game.
  • Wide receiver: Both Aiyuk (1,342) and (1,117) went for over 1,000 total yards during the regular season. Jennings played well out of the slot, catching 19 passes for 265 yards.
  • Offensive line: Williams earned his 11th consecutive Pro Bowl trip with another dominating performance at left tackle. Banks and Brendel both played extremely well on the interior of the offensive line. While the San Francisco 49ers’ depth chart has Spencer Burford starting at right guard, veteran Jon Feliciano will get the nod for Super Bowl LVIII.

  • Defensive line: Bosa, Hargrave and Armstead combined for 22.5 sacks during the regular season with the first two earning Pro Bowl nods. Young was less effective after being acquired from the Washington Commanders during the regular season. Look for Randy Gregory to potentially see more action than him in the Super Bowl.
  • Linebacker: Warner found himself as an All-Pro again in 2023, recording four interceptions and playing elite sideline-to-sideline football. Greenlaw also played at a Pro Bowl level, acting as an enforcer at the line before picking off two passes in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. Oren Burks will come in and play some in nickel situations. Look for Jalen Graham and Dee Winters to be inactive.
