Potential top pick for New York Giants and New York Jets in NFL Draft declares for 2024 event

A player who likely could be the top pick for either the New York Giants or New York Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft has officially declared for the April event.

The Giants and Jets are still fighting to land a spot in this season’s playoffs and have big games coming up this week against the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins, respectively. However, that doesn’t mean elements of the organization aren’t looking ahead to prospects that would be a good fit for them in next year’s draft.

The major injuries this season to the team’s starting quarterbacks, Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers, showed that both rosters are badly in need of better and consistent play on the offensive line. Poor line play for the Giants and Jets has been an Achilles heel in recent seasons and likely could be a primary target in April.

An elite-level offensive tackle can have a huge impact on the success of a quarterback and his offense. While the Giants have a very good one in Andrew Thomas, he shows you can never have enough. As for the Jets, finding just one reliable tackle will be a necessity in the offseason so they can keep Rodgers on the field in 2024.

Likely New York Giants and Jets 2024 Draft target Joe Alt declares

Well, a player that both franchises will likely be taking a hard look at in their pre-draft scouting process early next year has officially entered the event. On Wednesday, gifted Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt revealed in a statement through the school that he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Many draft experts view the 20-year-old Alt as, arguably, the best offensive lineman in next year’s class. He has been a two-year starter at a program known for developing high-level offensive linemen and the 6-foot-8, 322-pounder is a very good athlete with impressive balance for his size.

Alt has very good hands, is strong on his first contact, and performs very well against speedy pass rushers — which the NFL is full of. He is good in his basics when it comes to run-blocking schemes and is an impact player in the run game. Furthermore, there are no issues when it comes to his effort or toughness either.

The one big knock on Alt at this point is that he can give up ground against powerful bull rushers.
