While NFL training camps are set to start next week, it looks like the Las Vegas Raiders are thinking about adding an impact player just before summer practices start.
The Las Vegas Raiders have had a busy offseason. It all started with the ugly divorce from former franchise quarterback Derek Carr. It included the signing of his replacement, Jimmy Garappolo. They moved on from former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller in a trade, and are now in a contract dispute with star running back Josh Jacobs.
Yet, the offseason comes to a close next week when training camps open up across the league, including for the Raiders. So the assumption was that their roster is pretty much set and the group will begin forging a bond and building toward the start of the regular season.
However, it seems that they could be on the verge of adding a proven star veteran very soon.
Las Vegas Raiders bringing Marcus Peters in for a workout next week

On Friday, NFL media league insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Las Vegas Raiders “will host FA CB Marcus Peters for a visit and workout on Monday.” Peters is one of the few name players still available in NFL free agency, along with 2022 Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook.
The 30-year-old actually met with the team earlier this year, but a deal never materialized and they may be kicking the tires to see if his asking price has decreased since then.
- Marcus Peters stats (career): 103 G, 32 INT, 92 PD, 346 TK
Peters had been an elite ball-hawk cornerback during his eight seasons in the league with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, and most recently the Baltimore Ravens. He has earned Pro Bowl honors on three occasions and is a two-time All-Pro. In four seasons he racked up five or more interceptions, including eight in his rookie season in 2015.
The former first-round pick missed all of the 2021 season due to an ACL tear. That may be part of why his market has been slow after having a slightly down year in 2022.
