Cleveland Cavaliers receiving trade calls for All-Star player

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off their best season since the LeBron James era. Cleveland won 51 games during the regular year, finishing as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

While the Cavs’ season came to an end in disappointing fashion in the first round to the New York Knicks, they still have a bright future. It doesn’t appear that front office head Koby Altman and Co. want to shake things up.

Per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavaliers are receiving trade inquiries for All-Star center Jarrett Allen. Up to this point, offers have not been enough for Cleveland to consider moving off the All-Star center.

In some ways, this makes perfect sense. Allen was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets as part of the blockbuster James Harden four-team trade back in January of 2021. Since then, he’s played at an elite level.

On the other hand, the Cleveland Cavaliers have two bigs in that of Allen and former No. 3 overall pick Evan Mobley. It’s an odd fit in today’s NBA. As we’re seeing with the Minnesota Timberwolves, it might not work out long-term, either.

If Cleveland is able to acquire a starting wing to pair up with All-NBA performer Donovan Mitchell, fellow All-Star Darius Garland and Mobley, it might make sense to move off Allen.

According to Fedor, the offers have consisted of either multiple players or several draft picks as headliners. Remember, the Cleveland Cavaliers gave up multiple first-round picks to acquire the aforementioned Mitchell from the Utah Jazz last summer.

Either way, it does not appear that Cleveland is interested in parting with Allen. The team views him as a core player moving forward.
