Steelers’ Martavis Bryant relegated to scout team duty

Martavis Bryant, Dallas Cowboys

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been at odds with his team the past few days. He has been complaining about not getting enough targets and even indicated that he wants a trade.

Well, if it is more targets and snaps Bryant wants, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen this week. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Bryant has received a demotion to the scout team.

This does not come as much of a surprise considering head coach Mike Tomlin said he doesn’t plan to let Bryant become a distraction. Tomlin does not have the time to deal with Bryant, who he has pretty much been relegated to the Steelers’ dog house.

Though, Tomlin doesn’t appear to be completely done with Bryant, who is “not available via a trade.” For now, Bryant will be serving a punishment for creating chaos with his team, and rookie teammate JuJu Smith-Shuster, in particular.

To date, Bryant has received 36 targets, equating to 18 receptions and 236 yards.

As things stand now, these numbers look to remain stagnate at least for the upcoming week.
