Mike Tomlin gives savage response when asked about Martavis Bryant

Mike Tomlin

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is clearly already sick and tired of having questions hurled his way regarding disgruntled receiver Martavis Bryant.

Recently, news broke that Bryant had asked for a trade. Then after Sunday’s win, he used social media to trash teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster and appeared to double down on the trade talk.

Speaking to media Tuesday, Tomlin had a pretty harsh response when asked if he’s dealt with Bryant. The key words here are “distraction” and that Tomlin is frustrated he’s having to field questions about a topic that’s not “high on my damn agenda.”

Tomlin did throw in some positive comments, noting Bryant has “worked diligently” and that “I like his approach.”

Though, then there’s this ominous comment.

The overall impression here is that the Steelers, Tomlin in particular, are weary about Bryant’s actions having a negative effect on what should be a positive time for the team. Pittsburgh is 5-2 on the season, two games up on the Baltimore Ravens, and is starting to click on both sides of the ball.

The team has made it clear it won’t give into any trade demands — Pittsburgh typically doesn’t respond well to strong-armed tactics — so Bryant needs to get with the program. Based on his latest comments about the role he has, however, that’s not going to happen. At least people are talking about him, though, right?
