Robinson Cano took his first at-bat with the New York Mets against Washington Nationals’ ace Max Scherzer. It went well for Cano.
The New York second baseman drove a 1-1 pitch from Scherzer over the right-center field wall for a solo home run.
Nobody needed a fresh start like Cano. On and especially off the field, 2018 was an absolute disaster for him.
This is a pretty good new start.
Besides Cano, the real winner of this might be Mets starter Jacob deGrom. He got at least some run support before even taking the mound. This is a stark contrast to 2018.
