WATCH: Gleyber Torres joins only Alex Rodriguez in exclusive club

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres continues to put up numbers we’ve rarely seen from such a young player.

Torres, 22, entered Wednesday’s action hitting .284 with 33 homers and 78 RBI on the season. He added to those totals in relatively short order against the Texas Rangers.

Torres took this offering from Rangers pitcher Lance Lynn in the fourth inning over the left center fence for a 406-foot solo blast.

This represented Torres’ 34th homer of the season. He now joins Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez as the only middle infielder in MLB history to have hit that many homers at the age of 22 or younger.

Torres’ performance for an injury-plagued Yankees team has helped them maintain a strong lead in the American League East and potential home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

He just continues to rake at an alarming clip for such a young kid. It’s been a sight to behold.
