Yankees’ Gleyber Torres joins elite company with 20th home run

Think about all of the greats that have suited up for the New York Yankees in their heralded history. It’s absolutely insane to think about those who have worn the pinstripes.

It’s even crazier to realize that youngster Gleyber Torres has now accomplished a feat only two others before him in Yankees history have done.

Torres took Minnesota Twins starter Jake Odorizzi deep in the third inning of Wednesday’s game, representing his 20th homer of the season.

That’s not necessarily the story here. The Yankees hitting a homer is nothing new. Rather, it’s the fact that Torres has now joined Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle as the only Yankees players to have multiple 20-plus homer seasons before turning 23 years old.

Say what? No Babe Ruth? No Lou Gehrig? No Derek Jeter?

We have absolutely no idea how good Torres is going to be down the road. He still boasts untapped potential. Even then, this is an absurd stat right here.
